ok so i am tryign to find a carb that i can use on my 69 sicne the old one is trashed fro mthe fire, and i be a broke ****. i might have a line on a used super "B" for next to nothing and since i cant find anything even remotly reasonable on ebay as far as bolt on carbs go * you would think there would be large amounts of kehin butterfly carbs floatign around somewhere* is this a decent carb for a 69 xlch? yeas i realize everyone is doing CV carbs now but they require to much fiddling with to get on and then working
A Super B is a great carb that is easy to tune. I run one on my '77 and love it, just keep in mind that this is a long throat carb so some people have problems running forward controls with them.
the cv is really easy, just have to get a branch intake or run the adaptor, as far as tuning goes they are pretty much a bolt on and go carb, i may be wrong but isnt the s&s b the one without a accelerator pump?there is a place around here that sells the cv carbs for around 90$ you can find the intake or the adaptor on ebay
i am not saying its a bad carb at all, just the cv is a more mild carb to drive on the street,i put 3000-4000 miles a year on my late 84, all thru the season i never have to touch the carb, set the valves a couple times a year and go!
Im running a S&S super e on my 82 ironhead and it runs like a top. Havent had it on the road yet though... its a little tricky with the forward controls.
I don't ever have to touch the adjustments on my carb and put 500+ miles a week on it.Then again I live in FL and there isn't w whole lot of change in the seasons.
