Default Frame Question

I got a line on a basket case. The frame's condition is the question. The previous owner (before this guy), did a poor job of raking the frame and stretching it so says the owner now.
I don't know much about what is involved in raking and stretching the frame as far as the mechanics go. But my question is, can that stuff be undone??

I am thinking it can't be, but that is with no knowledge of the process.

I think anything can be undone but the cost involved are always the problem.

I agree with Denbo......
Anything can be done, but how much do you want to spend doing it?
If it were me, I would pass on any machine that someone made a failed attempt on turning the bike into a 'chopper.' Especially if that was directed towards something as important as the frame.
Bad work on fenders and gas tanks can be thrown away, while a frame is a different matter. These machines take enough effort and resources to restore without having to deal with something like correcting a botched frame that has been butchered up.
Just my 2 cents worth however.........pg

Seems like more hassle than I would like right now. I will low ball him and see if he will let it go for a song and a dance. If anything it may be worth the parts.

Thanks again for your advice.

anytime you mess with a frame, you need a jig setup to assure the alignment keeping all rails in the same plane. Part of the jig holds the neck for setting the rake of the neck. Your other choice would be to get another frame and build it up and then go through the process of getting it registered with your DMV.

If they are in good shape I'd say yes but it sounds like you are asking for trouble especially with the way he butchered the frame .But then again I brought an engine for my challenger and when I brought it it had a tick in it.The car it was in was wacked pretty hard in the front and twisted the geometrics of the drive line when I pulled it and ran it the noise was gone it was just the starter hanging up on the flywheel,Like I told the guy I brought it off of it was a crap shoot. But that time I had a good feeling about it.
