Default Question: What is this "part" officially called and where to get it?

No, not the fender, lol. And not the saddlebags. I realize it's likely just a "fender reflector", but I only see it on some vintage bikes and not others. Don't know if it was option, or only came on certain models, or was a common aftermarket mod, or what. I have been looking for recreations of them to put on my 2021 FLHC, but haven't had luck with any google searches. I was hoping to find a real, original one and make it fit my fender. But depending on what it is, I might could make one, cut out some metal, drill holes and insert glass reflectors, but I'd prefer to see if someone does recreations of them first. I really dig the style, I'm a sucker for old school, hot rod looking glass reflectors and such, and when I saw them on this bike and others like it, I wanted to get some for my bike too. I've got some glass license plate reflectors coming from Red Fox (courtesy of Revival Cycles), but would love to get this whole fender reflector piece.

Thanks!

The Red Fox reflectors are easy to source, originals are also pretty common at an AMCA meet, prices vary.

Someone just used the stud of the reflector to replace to OEM bolt that held the saddle bag plate to the fender. You need drill holes to bolt up the bags. Early bags had four bolts, later bags had five bolts. My original rear fender has been drilled for both over her life.

Those are saddlebag mounting plates. Think I may have an extra set I got from Pauchgo's years ago. I can check if you like.

And you can order direct from Red Fox Enterprises

Wait, so those glass reflectors (jewels) had more to do with the saddlebag mounts than being "reflectors" for the fender, maybe that's why I was having such a hard time finding something. That makes sense.

Hmm, especially after looking at the link from Hellonewman, looks like something that could just be fabricated for my fender, lined up and bolted in with the current saddlebag mount holes. Then drill out the spots for the reflectors, set them in, bingo. Nice. I still wonder, was this something done by modders of the 40's, or was this a customization option sold direct from Harley.

Hell, if you come across them and want to sell them, I might be able to make that happen.

Yeah I got some license plate bolts from Red Fox today (actually bought from Revival Cycles, and Lowbrow Customs has them as well, including non-bolted style that can be set into something like a plate), but I was more curious about that overall plate they were mounted into. Makes sense it's part of the saddlebag mount now that I look at it.

Im curious to see how it turns out. I haven't seen anyone add them to a modern touring bike.

The problem you are going to have is that your modern bike has fender struts, old bikes did not. So the plate just bolted to the sheet metal and the leather bag hung straight down. Not sure how you are going to get "over" the strut, but anything is possible. Good luck.
