Default Burn down 72FLH

My son was working on his 69 Camaro in my garage while I was busy inside the house with a realtor agent. He was using a torch on the inner rocker of the car near the pass floorboard. He came in after he made sure everything was OK but within minutes, I saw smoke coming out of the garage somehow the fuel caught fire was a fuel fire around the car couldn’t do anything about it.

This car I had restored in 08 for my oldest son. He’s been fixing it up since it was a very nice looking car later a 5.3 LS motor and five speed tranny went in. Just put new wheels and tires on it.

Has anyone had experience with restoring a burned up motorcycle? I haven’t but I’m thinking of rebuilding it. I don’t think I’ll be able to acquire everything to make it original again, had only 45,000.

It has to be a love affair but after my wife passed away and a cryptocurrency scam I won’t bother with it here you go, Copart!

Man-cave art...it would cost more to repair than it will be worth when you are done...

yeah, I’m still debating it whether to hold onto it get around to it ideas and making it a rat bike or I’m not too sure of the whole idea. Have you gone with a burned up or wrecked vehicle before? I don’t know if it’s worth screwing with. Parting out? They’re only paying me 9000 Dairyland insurance. I didn’t have a agreed value.

$9K is plenty to buy another 72 FLH. I''d move on.

yeah, it was my father‘s. He wrote it since 73 was near new and I just got it off him two years ago. I don’t want to think the engine got hurt, the gearbox still has oil. Only the push rod tubes are loose what I can tell so far temperature got hot enough to melt the thin cast aluminum pieces, discoloring chrome but I think I can get that back running again maybe 2- $3000 if the motor is OK

I get the sentimental thing, I had a watch restored that my father bought new in 1971 and I remember it on his arm when I was a kid. In that case I say take it right apart and do it right. Repaint the frame and do it justice. The insurance company should still give you some money back when you keep the bike, just not the full amount.

Funny you mentioned a watch my father handed me his Rolex same time as the bike(in the will) but that’s the thing I’ll resurrect it as restoring been my thing. I’m actually thrilled to redo it! Insurance only took away 350 for me to keep it, about Salvage value. Twistdx has many parts
