Letter E in belly numbers
Hi there, recently I acquired a 1940 EL knucklehead with factory stamped vin (I checked it looks 100% legit) and belly numbers that have a letter "E" instead of "-" between the year and casting number. It goes as follows: vin 40EL3951 and belly numbers 40E3924. They are absolutely clean, no grind, no sandblasting, entire bike 95% original. Can anyone please explain what that E represents? I found a similar E in belly numbers of another 1940 knuckle on vintageamericanmotorcycles.com website - it looks exactly like mine (not the same numbers of course)
