I have a 46 Knuckle I just bought. First time I road it more then a mile it started sputtering like it was running out of gas and died. I pulled over on highway, and kicked it over and started riding again..same thing about a mile later. Kicked it over again, started riding..sputtered and died.
We have ruled out readjusting the carb..thats happened more then once. We ruled out the ignition switch, we put a new one in.
My mechanic feels its the Voltage Regulator. He says it's reading 20+Volts when you rev the motor.
Check the simple things first. The gas tank should have a vented cap. Next time it starts to die loosen the cap. If it starts running right that's your problem.

Like he said...simple things first...vented gas cap, X-over line on top, fuel filter (crud in tanks), shut-off rod, float bowl adjustment.
Voltage regulator? So converted to 12 Volt system?
