"Come with me and let me show you the pow-wow of the dark side."; Being a 'Star Wars' fans, and a tech buff; I was really happy to attend the premier of the series; "Long Way Up"; a ride from the tip of South America to LA on an electric motorcycle, along the electric highway using the new HD LiveWireŽ electric bike, I also got to test ride, the new Harley Davidson Livewire production model; it' a really nice ride. After having test ridden on some electric prototypes, a home made prototype electric scooter; a motorcycle, a Motorino, a Zero; which all I sold off. I must say the Livewire is a really good ride. It's fast and zippy, from the get go. I know BMW also makes an electric motorcycle scooter, yet still unavailable in Canada, so couldn't test ride it. Harley did a really good job on the bike, the handling, safety, riding modes, weight to power/torque modes, regenerative braking, idling clutch and finally the belt drive; make it a fun zippy ride. Ready for HWY #1, Canada's Electric Highways with it's charging stations. Both options, with fast charge on the road, or slow charging at your home outlet; or on overnight stays; plus there is a convertor add on dongle, which let's you charge the bike at a Tesla station or at an ESSO Plugshare DC level 3 outlet. So for example, you can rent the motorcycle in Calgary, and ride out to Banff, stop for a quick lunch, or coffee; take some photos; and the bike get's recharged, for your ride back; or ride on to the next charging station. Better still, stay the night, enjoy the Hot Springs and the culinary and dancing experience, not to mention, the majestic views of the Rocky Mountains, in this small quaint; swiss style township. Best of all, they merged their legacy systems into their new bike; for a smooth transition, for older die hard Harley riders into this new tech ride. 2020 Harley Davidson Livewire EV (Electric Vehicle) and Long Way Up as featured in The Enthusiast.

 

That I the first I have heard of a converter for a Tesla charging station. And a quick Google search didn't turn up anything. Only thing I could find was an article from a year ago about Europe, where Tesla uses the CCS charger connector, not the USA Spec Tesla connector, and non-Tesla electric cars could charge for free at Superchargers. So it sounds like a LIvewire might be able to charge on a Tesla Supercharger in Europe.

So do you have a link to this converter dongle?

But it does not work on Telsa DC Super Chargers, only on their home or Destination chargers, which are Level II and the Livewire would charge at it's slower Level I rate anyway. So it really does nothing for the Livewire.

 

Yes, there is an add on dongle, which works on a level 3 DC charger. I also have happened to see a prototype, aftermarket one; coming back to charging a Livewire, most Harley dealerships, are required to have an electric charging station, as pictured; also as mandated by product line, further since there already exists a Tesla charging network, with it's own dedicated charging stations and in Canada there is also the DC fast chargers which offer the highest levels of charging, also called fast, level 3 or 3+, which can provide up to 200 kilowatts per hour (kWh) — enough to provide an 80 per cent charge to most EV's in less than 30 minutes, through Petro-Canada and ESSO gas stations. Most place, hotels and motels, have plugins, in Canada, as we all plug in our cars during the winter, especially during extreme temperatures, so if staying overnight, even charging at level 1 is a non issue, at most places; just ask your motel or B n'B reception, and I am sure, they would be more than happy to accommodate your request. The real question remains, about the demand for such stations, which I believe can be increased by federal and provincial/state grants, for switching to an electric vehicle, as it's carbon neutral and zero emissions; thus helping offset the higher price of the vehicle initially. Further, the cost to run and maintain the vehicle is relatedly lower, compared to an ICE (Internal Combustion Engine). Harley also offers an extended warranty, on the motorcycle, in case you are worried about battery life. I highly recommend you test ride a Livewire and speak to your local authorized dealership, and they can explain and further clarify your charging related questions.

Ok, So where does one find this add on Charging Dongle that lets non Teslas use Tesla Charging stations, because I looked and couldn't find one.
