Hi Guys
i hope for quick help since there is over 180 pages on this post (bit too long to read it all) as I was wondering if someone can sum it up let me know what are common issues with M8 I am considering 2018 114 Heritage (for 12.5K which btw I think is fair price - please share your opinion on this) and want to be aware of any potential problems and some tips what to pay attention to and how to identify (if possible).

From what I can tell the Softails have been pretty much problem free. Seems that the issues have been with the Touring M8's. Check VIN for the service record at a dealer if possible, but you should be ok.

Price sounds good (pending mileage/condition status). I've only read of two cases of Softails sumping on this forum, and they don't have hydraulic clutches so that eliminates the trans fluid transfer issue.
Have seen some reports of Softails having a fuel leak, and noisy fuel caps, but not much else. Heritage should be a fine ride, and I nearly bought one myself last year. A test ride should seal the deal.
Metallic particles and abrasive fragments removed by a cutting or grinding tool. First known use of the word "swarf" was in1565. Get with it.
Well, ****. Learnt me something new I have cut apart 100s of filters in my engine building career, and we called it "a filter full of metal" LOL, I would have loved to tell the customer, he had a filter full of swarf.
