I can't think of any vehicle deal that would fall apart for the cost of an oil change, especially at wholesale oil prices.

And for what it's worth, cost of goods sold (oil purchases) ARE a "certifiable tax write off".

Latest news on my 2017 Tri Glide is that I'm getting a new motor! The dealership found metal fragments when they tore my motor apart. Out of an abundance of caution, it was decided an engine replacement was the best course of action. While I'm bummed that I didn't get to ride last weekend and might miss riding this weekend, I am happy with how Harley has taken care of the problem. My dealership is also top-notch and has been on top of the issue. In the grande scheme of things, this is but a small bump in the road.

Good deal ! That's the best course of action. After all is said and done, make sure you take the scoot back after an agreed on set of miles between you and the dealership so that they can check the torque on all the mounting bolts. Better safe than sorry !

Great idea! And I'll likely be changing the oil more frequently for the 1st 5k.

Heh. Once the new engine is installed, I'd yank the filter after the first 50 miles. Then at 500, drain and fill all the fluids just like the old brake in schedule used to call for. After that, you should be good to go. This 1k brake in the MoCo is now using is pure bs imho.

Strong oil pressure. It's the oil cooled RGS with stage I. It was an early build. Zero issues of any kind. From day one the mpg was never below 50 and high was 56. HD states combined mpg is 45.

The tracking of pump failures is meaningless. First no data on total number of bikes on the road. Then most HD owners are not on this forum. So what does the failed pump number mean? 25 per cent of those on the road or a fraction of one per cent?

It appears to be to be a fools errand without any factual numbers.
Hey 4x4, I'm going in tomorrow for Cataract Surgery, BUT, I can see your USA map, it looks like you've been all over the USA, just waiting for Obama to build a Bridge to Hawaii ? CONGRATS !
Seriously, I wanted to ask you about using Rotella Diesel Oil, isn't your warranty now, null & void ? Good Luck, BJ

Hey Steve, Why is their a thicker gear rotor in the oil cooled motor ? Then they'll be a SE Super Duper oil pump ! After 113 years, when will they learn ? Thanks for ALL your input, I enjoy it, I tip my hat to you ! Regards, BJ

Hey Vt., Got Snow ? Are you near Fairlee, Vt., I've got a friend, in Orford, NH, with ALL the toys ! My good friend Phil, the inventor of the S-------r, Complete Oil Change, is developing one for the M8, right now ?

I don't understand the 100, 500 mile oil changes, it used to be 1000 mile, 1st service ! What's different, is the MOCO, not washing & blowing out all the oil lines & cavities after machining the cases ? I've been telling TC owners to open up their dirty oil filters at oil change time, for 15 years ! They should spread out the dirty pleats, looking for yellow, orange or white plastic, pieces of the deteriorating Cam Tensioners ! I like the New Evo with 8 valves ! Whats Old is New again ! BJ
