After being a tech in the auto dealer business for 35 years i have learned that the mfr is usually all over it on a new model and do not tell us squat for a while and most speculation was wrong. I would bet they have identified the vendor flaw and addressed it and the number was small enough to handle on a case by case basis. I am not convinced a oil change would get the debris out. Mine is scheduled for late nov production and hopefully it is worked out. Mike
Hey ocezam, I don't understand why a guy with a 2017 CVO, with a 114" motor, would go to the expense of adding 3", to get to 117" ? If I had 3 more inches, I'd have another foot ! Regards, BJ
Yea, but you can't buy a three pair of shoes........................
Mine shows build date of 8/16. I'm guessing that would be considered an early build? Thinking the motors have been built and shelved till mated to the bike.
Got a 17 a few weeks back, about 3,000 miles on it now... smokes like crazy when it's cold and makes a few funny rattles here and there. My twin cam did that for 60k before it finally ****. Curious about known motor failures on these as I wonder how long mine will last.

Hi all
I am in Australia
I bought the 2017 CVO limited FLHTKSE on 27th October(build date August 2016)
loved it...
after 500kms oil warning light on at lights at idle -take off the light goes out.
told dealer
Back to dealer 1000kms on the clock my bike is 1 week old.
Catastrophic failure -bits of loose metal in engine, oil valve stuck open (don't understand the technical aspect but suffice to say according to HD the bike needs a totally new engine! The dealer is trying to get me a totally new bike.
My first Harley after owning other bikes...I will put this down to an unlucky break. my new bike or my 1 week old bike and new motor are going to get through this because but for the engine failure I loved that bike!Great handling, great power, and just awesome (now if my next one fails then you won't see such an optimistic post)
I had to post this as it is a first hand personal experience and like many others in the world struck by lightning there can't be too many of us!
