Some really reliable folks around here posted the various limits they've observed (or run into) so that part rings true... the part about the Harley in Germany going 130 and going into a wobble sounds like just so much wrong end output from a bull.

So... typical salesman talk - I'm going to wrap a hotdog of truth in a bun of inside information bullstuff.

I was looking for information on speed limiters when I found this thread, and did not realize it was the M8 forum when I first posted. That said, I found a nice clear part of freeway yesterday and got up to 113 (indicated) yesterday on my 16 CVO. The bike was very smooth, but i had to get off the throttle because I was catching up with traffic quickly. I am still not sure what the CVO's are limited to.

Have not hit the limiter on the 17 yet. Had it to 100 for a short time.
As for "German rider went down the Autobahn at 130 MPH" No body that would be reporting anything from Germany would be using MPH.
More like he was going 80.7 MPH He was likely showing 130 Kilometers per hour. If there is even any truth to it.

only way any of the Harleys I have ever owned would hit 130 is if I dropped them off a cliff

My '07 Street Glide (with it's original 2007 super tall gearing) would bury the needle in fourth gear. 102 hp, rev limiter set to 6500. It was solid and stable; never a hint of wobble although this was on straight and smooth road that I knew like the back of my hand. My (LEO) buddy radared me at 142 shifting into sixth. Don't know if it would have pulled more in sixth but I bet it would've. I ran out of cajones and shut her down. My point is: it's not that hard to get decent top-end out of a Harley-Davidson.

Later, I put Wild 1 14" apes on it and I don't think I got north of 110 mph again. Did not feel solid enough.

The limiter is not gear dependent. It limits it in every gear that the bike can reach 107 mph.

What tuner did you use to remove the limiter?

Don't forget that the tires on Harley Touring Bikes are speed rated at, H that equals 130MPH.

At 115MPH that gives you a 15MPH cushion, or faster then the speed the Bike is limited to.
