So for those interested, I contacted Dynojet asking them about what would happen if Harley enabled the fan switch on the ECM for the oil cooler and I then flashed a new map onto it with a Power Vision. They responded that the flash "should not change the way the fan operates".
So for good news for PowerVision owners. Not sure about the other aftermarket tuners, but I'm sure it's probably the same.
stupid question perhaps, wouldn't be my first, but wonder if the update to enable is a ECM or BCM update? leaning towards ECM cuz it's probably engine temp/thermostat related

The settings are in the ECM. Mastertune allows you to turn them off or on, so it's up to you.
Update: I flash the original base map via FP3. I then went to Harley and had the fan activated via the Digital Tech in the ECM. I then called Vance and Hines and upload the new map to them to replace my default base map. I then upload a new map via the FP3, so I will not wait and see if the fan is still enabled. Stand By.
Was worried about activating my fan last week. I have a Thundermax installed. To my surprise it came on on my ride home. Found out that the default is set to on using the Thundermax. My bike is a stage 4 and I've thrown both the Love jugs minis on and the HD Fan assisted oil cooler. Ran in some hot temperatures with traffic last week and the bike stayed nice and cool.
Does anyone that has a 2017 touring bike have this kit on their bike? And is this fan assisted oil cooler worth it? I live in South Florida where it is always really hot and heavy traffic has become the norm. Thanks
here is a stupid question....how do I know that the fan is working? I had it installed when I bought the bike and now have 20000 miles.

it's inaudible..after up to operating temp, then idling on jiffy, put your hand behind it and it'll be painfully obvious..ours come on every ride even in Winter in the 30's out

Just take a small scrap of paper about the size of a post it note and hold it up in front of the oil cooler. If the fan is working, it will suck it in against the cooler and hold it there....
