I am one week and about 700 miles in to my first experience with a Heel/Toe shift and I gotta say I like it. As I said above all my years on bikes have been with a toe shift only and I decided to give the heel/toe a fair shot on my RGU instead of removing it right away. After 700 miles I gotta say I like it and it is staying. I wear a size 13 boot and have not found that it is in the way or that it gives me any issues when bringing my feet on the boards. I realize that I have only been using it for a week and 700 miles is not a lot but after riding bikes most of my 53 years with only a toe shift I have found that it only took a few rides for the heel/toe to become 2nd nature and actually now I prefer it

Like you I wear a 13 and after years of toe shift only I am liking the heel/toe and not finding it confining but an extension on the heel shift arm may be something to look into. Which shift arms did you get and did you get extended for both heel/toe or just heel.

Often I rode in boots or dress shoes I could not have scuffed up The heel shifter worked just fine.
One option that if you don't like it you can remove it in minutes. or you can just ignore it.

Which shift arms are those, I like them. Rainy day yesterday so while I had my RGU on the jack doing a little shinning I lowered the heel shift as low as it will go. Rode it today and I like that position much better

Those are the Harley Extended arms..I looked around and couldn't find anything else that I liked nearly as much...and really fit the bill. Got it out today for about 50 miles or so before dark...and have to say really liking the setup.

I think foot size may be the key here. I wear a size 9 and love my heel shifter. Hate riding bikes that don't have one.
But if you have a size 11 or larger boot, I can see where it might get very confining.
