Went to replace my stabilizer link with the hd chrome one and now can not get it back aligned. I replaced my last one with no issues but this one is around 1/4 inch off. any ideas would be of great assistance? Certainly do not want to get it towed to a dealer
Let me guess. Whole engine moved to the left once you pulled it?
If so, put the right side bolt in leaving the left side bolt out. (Left side goes into the frame).
Get on the left side of the bike, align the bolt through the stablizer and while sitting on your butt, use your leg/foot to push the engine over while starting the bolt into the frame.
Or you could use something soft like a plastic mallet handle or broom handle to pry between the frame and engine to get the bolt aligned.
Yeah, the whole thing sounds sketchy, but it works.
