I have a 2017 ultra limited low and this summer my bike stalled going in slow traffic. I noticed I had to start the bike in neutral as I had to pull off the road way. I was on a ride recently and another m8 owner told me what the problem was and to goto the dealership because my bike was new. This was pretty dangerous with the bike just for no reason stalled and as quickly tried to restart with clutch held in and it would not start. So quick thinking, I shifted in neutral to get bike started again. I am bringing my bike in to get this problem fixed. Why has Harley Davidson not come out with this problem and the risk it poses to riders.
There is a Tech Bullintine out for this and it is covered under warranty. They replace the clutch handle and sensor switch. Had mine fixed last fall.
My lever and switch pack gets replace tomorrow. The bike is absolutely filthy. It seems almost like a sin to take it to the dealer as nasty as it is right now to get the work done. It's went from bugs, to rain and then back to bugs and down muddy roads. But,,, it will be fixed. Well Hopefully,,, maybe even?
mine did not work either, used the WD40 on the plunger and it starts in gear now, if it happens again, to the dealer I will go. thanks to all who helped out.

true dat...the fix is the new housing with a stiffer spring in the piston to keep it from sticking and the new lever config to compliment it...which is my understanding of what changes were made..just suffice it to say they upgraded the parts and it resolved the problem
I current have that issue ( will not start in gear ) , and the Clutch call back , plan on send her in for both at the same time , waiting to get my bike in now : (
what will happen if not replaced is that thing will stall from reaching and loping in traffic. It almost caused an accident for me at Daytona. tell that stupid dealer it is a safety issue and it's stalling at low speed in traffic. he's blowing smoke. there was a service bulletin last spring on a redesign replacement. my dealer replaced 3 before the redesigned one fixed the problem permanently..................I can't believe the dishonesty of some of these dealers.
