What?
Nobody is talking about 1,000 mile services in this thread. You don't have to have the 1,000 mile service done at a dealer, you don't even have to have it done by a professional, you can do it all yourself, all you have to do is show that you did it.
I guess that's my question..why should using the tuner of my choice affect my warranty...
Unless the warranty problem in question can be directly traced to or caused by my choice of tuners..my warranty should not be affected.
Simple.
Using an aftermarket tuning device to retune your ECM voids your powertrain warranty because the Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Incorporated, and the United States Environmental Protection Agency made a deal, and agreed that if you used an aftermarket tuning device to retune your ECM, the Motor Company promised to deny any powertrain warranty claims, whether or not the use of an aftermarket tuning device had anything to do with the failure or not.

Yeah you are absolutely right..they tried running that stuff on me back when I bought my Dyna..didn't work then ..so I was kinda surprised when they tried to run it on me again when I bought the SGS about 3 weeks ago..these guys are greedy..it's like they have meetings at night thinking of ways to try to scare you into spending money.
Thanks a lot for posting that link..my question has been answered..just read through it and saw it in plain English..well at least I'm not pissed at the dealer anymore..they are doing what they are legally bound to do.
Thanks again..and my thanks to everyone else who responded..you guys saved me a lot of aggravation and quite possibly a lot of money.
I will keep it stock until such time as needing my warranty is not an issue.
