I traded a 2016 for a 2017, except I really liked the color of my 2016 which is the Purple Fire/Black Cherry, so with the trade they swapped all my tins from the 16 to the 17. I knew that I was going to loose out but... I took a 2k lost but that included the swap and all the other custom parts from the 16 to the 17, except the pipes but I took those off before I took it in. All in all my payment went up 20 dollars and started over which they all do. Me I am happy with what "I" did. But on the other hand I have a 1 of 1 2017 in a color that that did not make in 17, so to me its worth it, too each there own. Best of luck....

Or you can trade for the 17 and then when the 18 comes out you can trade again (if there is some sort of improvement) It's only money man and you can't take it with you.

I think that's the thing to do.

My throttle doesn't even go past 1/4 at highway speeds (75mph here in windy Texas).

I don't know what you are talking about. Even on my 80" Evo, there is lots of throttle left at interstate speeds. I backed off at 100 mph while still accelerating. Only eighty cubic inches with a carburetor for crying out loud. No radical cam or anything like that.

The 17s have some nice improvements but if you're going to upgrade most of the bike (as I have done) you probably won't be able to tell the difference from a 16. (I traded from a 16 and took a small hit but then went ahead and performed a bunch of upgrades that I could have also done on the 16 and been happy.) Probably would have kept the 16 for a while and waited for an 18 or 19 model. Something to think about. BTW, just to confuse you more... Some dealerships are offering 3 years of free maintenance on new 17s. Make sure they offer this at your local shop if decide to buy.
