Default Transmission clunking

Is any one experiencing loud clunking when shifting? Additionally, serious noise in shift lever when shifting. I have owned four Harley's prior to my 2017. This is the loudest and most uncomfortable by far. It is going into the shop for the lead mechanic too look at it.

Mine clunks louder than my '12 Ultra TriGlide. After about 1,000 miles, and then changing to Formula+ in the primary, and BelRay in the transmission, its better. But, not as silky smooth as my '12. Might have something to do with the hydraulic clutch not disengaging as much as the mechanical ones do.

Mine seems to depend on speeds and how hard and fast I shift. Sometimes it's smooth as silk and others noisy. I figured it was me.

My 4th Harley, this one shifts the smoothest of them all. Have you checked to see if your primary is overfilled?

The dealers demonstrator I had a test ride on had covered 1200 miles and the gear changes clunked a lot more than my Dyna, it didn`t do the bike justice not sure if I could live with it.

As Dave suggests check your transmission dipstick. I suspect your primary has overfilled via this transfer thing.

After having an issue with trans oil migrating into primary, I am very careful of checking after every ride. I have 1600 miles on it now. The trans and engine oil look's normal on the dipsticks. I miss my 2015 Limited, I want a do over!

Sorry its taken you 1600 miles to decide you want a do over :-(

I did a few test rides and a couple nights of sleep on it before I bought my '17 SGS. Does Florida have a grace period for vehicle purchases? With 1600 miles I'm guessing you're beyond the grace period anyway.

On my first 17 Road Glide Ultra i put 6000 miles on it the tranny made a clunking noise when new. I did change to a good tranny oil and the tranny was much better. But then i started losing tranny oil to the primary, couple that with my maneuvering problems with the Road Glide just didn't like it couldn't get comfortable i traded in back for a 17 Electra Glide Ultra Classic.

I am in love with this bike have 700 miles on it shifting in great not a peep out it. Engine is great very quiet what a difference from my other ride fits me like a glove.
