What I find to be a "rip off" is that HD does not allow any sort of custom modding of the bike prior to purchase. So we are forced to buy a spec bike with only a relatively few options, then yank off all the parts that we don't want, sell them for pennies on the dollar, then replace them with the parts from the catalog that we do want. To me, that is a much a waste of good resources as it is money.
To each his own.

Care to finish that thought? You can build a CVO for cheaper than just buying one outright or some people enjoy paying for parts twice? You kinda left me hanging there.

Its all a matter of taste and whats important to you. For my taste, the look of a blacked out "murdered" bike does nothing for me but I ride long distance, not a bar hopper. Giving up the heated seat, heated grips and twin-cooled engine on a $41k CVO RG seems like a complete rip off. But maybe you live in Key West and a 21 inch front wheel is more important than a heated seat, so what do I know? Hence the reference "to each his own". That's what the hobby is all about.

yep ...like when they got rid of the front lowers and lower speakers on the 2014 CVO RGs and charged more than the 2013 CVO RGs with the 4 Speaker sound which rocks
a few guys I knew were interested in the 2014 until it came out with no lowers
absolutely stupid

sorry to run off on a tangent

Ohh, I woulda bought the 17 Limited CVO in a minute. I ended up with a Limited, not the CVO. If you add all of the goodies on the CVO Limited and the regular Limited, I believe you come out ahead on the CVO, but i could be wrong. I know the difference between the Ultra Classic and Ultra Limited was worth it to me buying the Limited. I guess it all depends on what the buyer wants to do.... I might buy a CVO in a couple of years but it would be a Limited or a Road Glide Ultra. I dont like the blacked out bikes, but that just me.
