All cvo parts are protected by the vin number. Anything I order from the dealer that is specific to the cvo I have to provide my vin...you can get around that by looking on ebay or elsewhere for it...some people take things off and sell them.

after i got my cvo I had to order the original backrest bar and matching pad that wasn't with the bike...guess what I needed ??? Yup vin number. I might be wrong about it but I'm pretty sure I was told this is how hd protects the guy who just spent 40k on bike from seeing someone put together a bogus cvo.
