I have never been a big fan of Harley, but decided to to pull the trigger. Initially I enjoyed my bike more then I ever expected.
Now I have issues with sumping....every time I ride, my bike sumps. I just picked my bike up from the dealer getting the oil pump replaced (again), and Ididnt make it home before it sumped again.
I have never owned a bike with realiabilty issues like this....my Ducati 1199 that I'm glad a kept, gives my no trouble, rev 12000 rpm, and is a WET sump motor with zero issues
In the off chance you're not a troll, It really is a new motor problem. Sorry you're dealing with it. Normally Harleys are pretty bullet proof since about '85...with a few unfortunate exceptions. Enjoying it more than you expected is a common experience, and the reason many of us ride them. We have a BMW and a Duc in our garage...but we will never be without a Harley and all have been trouble free for well over 100,000 miles. Hope the sumping issue gets sorted out and I'm sorry you jumped on board with a first year motor. Hope you stick with it.
Here's a picture of my bike, my odometer, and a picture of the mileage from my repair order. The repair order is actually inaccurate as when I picked it up today it had 3800 miles on it. So am I a troll?
AT this very moment the bike barely runs, I would be surprised it was actually making 40 horsepower. So tell me why would that make me a troll? I just want the bike to do what it's supposed to do. I want to ride it and enjoy it. And that just doesn't seem to be in the cards. I have 3 other friends that have these bikes that are also having sumping issues, so it's not all in my head

well give you the benefit of the doubt, just your post just came across devoid of credibility with lack of detail and claiming reliability issues, ..we ride with half a dozen friends with M8's all with well over 10,000 miles apiece with no break downs, sumping, trans fluid transfer reports, reliability, etc..a few minor issues amongst us but all agree these are better and more enjoyable by far than any previous Harley's owned..good luck and keep us posted on your issues and solutions...you and 3 friends with these bikes having sumping problems..batting a 1000, 4 for 4..that's some serious coincidence and bad luck
There's nothing fancy on the repair order. No Smoking Gun nothing surprising.
for the time being I have no intention of posting the entire work order. You never know who's watching. At this point I will say that my dealer has done a great job of taking care of me. And I wouldn't hesitate going to them to make another purchase to have any repairs performed excetera.
