I have a 2017 Road Glide Ultra and I want to install s/e ventilator a/c, s/e pro street tuner and Vance and Hines monster rounds keeping the stock catted head pipe. I was told the tuner might not be sufficent with the monster rounds because the baffles are too restrictive. Has anybody have this set up and is it good? Why would the tuner not be sufficient?
I am just an amateur bike wrencher but the Monster Rounds are not restrictive in my opinion. I have them on my Ultra. They have huge baffles and breathe fine. Get rid of that cat. If you see that big hunk of junk in the header pipe you will wonder how the bike even runs with it in there. FP3, decatted header, Big Sucker and Monsters make the bike run a lot stronger and so much less heat from the cat. I took the cheap way out and got a decatted header off e bay for 125 bucks.

my buddy did this and had it dyno tuned with the SEPST and it runs and sounds fantastic..he had it all done initially with Street Canons but after the 2nd set produced baffle rattle opted for the V&H MR's...the first dyno run while in the process of retuning showed a very slight drop in numbers, then tuning brought it back in line with the Street Canons..I just had a SC replaced under warranty for the same loose baffle rattle..if this happens again I think I'll do the same as he did as our dealership service department prorated the amount of the warranty replacement towards the V&H upgrade..anyway, yes the tuner is sufficient for a muffler swap..(we both have the SE Hi Flow AC's but that's irrelevant for the Stage 1 upgrade)
Stage 1 dyno tuning is a waste of money. Mjwebb has a lot of toys, so he knows a lot in his opinion.
Either the SE tuner or the FP3 ran with the autotune feature will get you within a couple of points of a dyno tune with the stage 1. Just changing the slip ons? Just ride it and you'll be fine
I'll post pictures of the lego motorcycle I put together WITHOUT instructions later to prove how smart I am.
man you are one butthurt dude..or chick..or...half and half...?? just can't let things go can ya'..OP asked if the SE tuner is sufficient for the V&H Monster Rounds..I provided an exact experience that he is looking for to answer his question that validates it is..adding another Ignore to another Ingnoramus
MJWebb...treatment can help, but unfortunately there is no cure for your condition.
ˇ Narcissistic personality disorder one of several types of personality disorders is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration
and 'waste of money' is subjective..that's your opinion, poors think that way..sure you can run auto tunes..or if after spending $25000 on a bike and having to spend a few hundred to have it running at its optimum efficiency is important then it may not be a waste..pretty sure people spend a few hundred $ on chrome goodies..you should tell all of them that's a waste of their money too then right? since your opinion on how to spend their money is what everyone should follow..got it
Mr. Evel Knievel Ex-bike owner...you win. Why don't you post your photos of that bike, or your YZ490, or your Dodge Challenger or the many other photos of your toys?? After all, isn't that what you want?? so we can all "ooh and ahh" over how inferior we all are to your great mind?
Again...treatment can help, but there is no cure for your condition
