Default Does a build date make a differance

I just ordered a 18 Street Glide and the dealer told me it has a build date around the beginning of January with delivery near the end of January, my question is with the issues with the tranny and oil pump that are happening now would the bike I'm ordering now and built in January have a less chance of these issues. When a bike is ordered does the motor get built around that time or do they take one that is sitting on the shelf that could have been built sometime in 17. I was hoping with the January build date I might have a better chance of these problems been fixed rather than buying one with 17 build date. Is this all just wishful thinking on my part or does it make sense.

It only makes a difference if Harley has incorporated a design or manufacturing change prior to your build date that addresses any issue you might be concerned with. And being that there is no way that the general public would have knowledge of that, I'd say the answer to your question is "maybe".

Obviously, everyday that goes by should be a day closer to a problem being solved but there are no guarantees... Except for you warranty.

Don’t worry about it, buy it and ride it.

AFAIK, the ONLY design defect that the MoCo has addressed so far is the spark plug wire rubbing on the gas tank problem. Took 'em 4 model years to start installing a clip on it.

As for the other issues, the MoCo has to come up with mega-cheap bandaid fixes of some kind before they can start incorporating them on the assembly line, and so far they're totally clueless, and I don't think their standard response of "That's normal, they all do that" is gonna fly this time.

Nothing new to see here folks, just business as usual. Just keep buyin' them bikes and trust the good ol' MoCo to take care of ya.

Yeah, right.

Once again you have provided the OP with useless information. Sell your harley and go away. Same song and dance, every response from you is BORING!!
