10,000 mile M8, Stage III +
The customer want to bring the bike in for his final inspection on our parts, so we set it up for today. This way I could work with whatever his complaints might be and get him back out today since there is no one to bother us.
2017 107 M8 Road Glide was the base bike. The bike has had a SE Stage III kit installed by a local dealership. The first one failed pretty quickly and when they went to replace it they called and asked if I could look it over for them. Typical deal, cylinders out of round and too tight. So for the second kit we fixed the cylinders before it went together and replaced oil pump and pan, along with cleaning things out. This is how I got to know the customer. After 100 miles, oil and filter were changed and checked/inspected for metal in the oil. Everything looked good, so he went another 1000 miles and called and asked what more could be done as he was done worrying about warranty.
So we upgraded to a TTS-200 camshaft as one of our Beta testers. He put about 2500 miles on it and was happy but asked for more again. So we talked about going with bigger Injectors as we were at the limit of the stock injectors with just the cam added, with Stock exhaust and slip-on mufflers. He really wanted a Thunderheader as he had them on his previous bike in the past and told me he had already ordered one. So we ended up adding the Thunderheader and a larger throttle body and injectors. Tuned it up and down the road he went with the understanding that we need to check it every 2500 miles. So after 10K on the parts now we did the final inspection and asked how it had been. His answer was kind of funny, it runs fine but eats rear tires now! I told him that's his fault and to take it easy on it and it would not do it. He said that's no fun. So after going over everything and finding nothing wrong with the engine side of this I put it back onto the dyno for it's last check.
Well it all looked good to me so I pulled it back off and once again he says he wants more but is waiting on another bike to come. So I said what you want out of it or are we talking about using the new bike. Said he hasn't made his mind up yet but once the new bikes in he would let me know. Here is todays dyno with 10,000 miles on the parts we installed.
Parts list
SE Stage III kit modified (114cu in)
TTS 200 Camshaft
64 mm Throttle Body
5.5 Injectors
Thunderheader
High Flow Air Cleaner
Mastertune II
Upgraded clutch

Yes, it has transfer but he is one of the bikes I've been using to try various modifications. He says its about every 1500 - 2000 miles now before it drops off the stick. While he's not happy about it, it's much better than back when it was every 300 miles!

Nice. Have a similar set up less the 64mm TB and injectors. Mine pulls around 112 hp between 5,000-5,500 and that is in the 125hp area in the same rpm range. Torque curve stays above 120 further into the rpm range than mine as well. Thanks for sharing!

Steve, what would your suggestion be on upgrading an M8? Bought mine with the stage 2 447 and am looking to get more out of it. I've been debating the 114" HD kit and better cams or possibly some of the other big bore kits that are out. I'm not looking for a race bike, just more juice and still keeping it reliable.
Thanks....
