Default I know this thread is old but after buying Progressive I wanted to share my experience.

I have tried the 944 FST Ultra for my Road King and absolutely could not get a good ride out of them, both sets that I bought that is. I was turned onto a brand named Supersshox and to my surprise they work quite well. I posted my video below on this matter. Before dropping almost 900 bucks it takes 6 minutes to watch the video.

Shocks are like windshields. Everyone has different expectations. I' even know guys who are happy with the stock 12" shocks. Some guys love Progressives, others hate them. I put Legends on both front and rear. that works for me but you're probably different. Ohlins are great, but I hear they need to be rebuilt periodically. Legends are lifetime guaranteed. Fox, RSD, the Italian Bitubo, and quite a few others make great replacement shocks. Personally, I think a good compromise between quality and price is Legends Revos, not the Revo As, which are adjustable on rebound. The Revos are set at what would be number 3 on the Revo As. Most guys run their As on 3 so you get the same shock for $200. less, but lose the adjustability, which a lot of folks don't use anyway. A lot of great choices out there!

my buddy has a 21 RGS and I recommended FOX, which would be my 1st choice, and he loves them..if my OEMs get too sacked out I may upgrade to FOX..or offer him $100 for his like new low mile OEMs since they are decent enough

I have a hard time comparing a shock to a windshield, either they ride like rough or not, Windshields can vary depending on height of the rider etc. I know plenty of people who use a chopped black windshield and sacrifice comfort and will justify it all day long to just look cool.

I like being comfortable. Same with cute seats. Chopped tourpaks, and hands above fairing

I have 772 blackline, they are 13" on my FLHXST. Absolutely transform the ride. I had emulsion preload adjustable only 12" ohlins on my FLHXS and I thought they were good, after riding with the 13" preload, rebound adjustable, divided piston blackilines I guess I had no idea what good was, these are awesome.

I suppose this is the same with many things in life, until you try something better.

And you don't think some people sacrifice a great ride with up graded 13" shocks to look cool with rougher riding 12" stock shocks? There was a time, after riding 7 years on a rigid frame, I thought anything with rear suspension rode great. Yeah, my expectations were different than what someone else might have expected. Some folks are happy with the stock suspension's 12" shocks on current Street Glides and Road Glides. If you read this forum you'll know that many others don't share that opinion.

I think it's a mixture. What they expect, how much they ride, what else they rode, and money.

Some people put more money into than I want to.

Maybe I am victim of that is way we always done it

Heard a few complaints of factory low shocks. I suspect performance 12.5 is good compromise for me. I have that on one bike.

Country roads are rough. Maybe if I tried higher end than 944 and 440 I would have to have.

I bought progressive for Alaska, which I think was good. Touring highways and interstate on stock is ok. Local country roads is where I feel the bumps
