More than likely it will come from natural gas or some other renewable such as solar.
The times, they are a changin. In a few years gasoline will become so damn expensive since most vehicles will be using electricity that it will become prohibitively costly to even drive an internal combustion engine vehicle. I wonder to myself if I would pay $100.00 or more to fill my 6 gallon gas tank to go out and joy ride for an afternoon?

the 2nd graders will tell you that it comes out of the wall socket. duh.

2/3 of adults between 18-35 will say the same thing. They have no idea. They can't tell you how a locomotive operates, what fuels a jet engine, what creates electricity for power plants all across the United States, etc.

They also can't tell you what energy or resources are required for "clean" battery operated cars, what waste is involved, how are we going to get tomatoes from El Centro to Toledo, and on, and on, and on. All they know is that electricity is the solution when in fact it is most likely going to be worse than the current consumption of coal and oil. We couldn't wait to get rid of glass bottles and paper bags in the grocery stores, now the environmentalists bitch and complain about all the plastic.

There is no "free lunch", everything has a down side. As said, electricity takes energy to produce. Solar technology is in the cave man stage, with an average cell being very inefficient, like single digit % of sunlight converted to electricity. Battery technology is not going to be able to get you cross country. There are too many obstacles to overcome first, it will be a slow process.

Renewable energy is at about 15% of the energy delivered in this country and growing. I dont think your efficiency numbers are accurate, and efficiency grows every year as well. You said single digits? Um, no. Looks like currently 14-21% https://news.energysage.com/what-are...on-the-market/

Tesla's founder Elon Musk says that if we took just a small chunk of the panhandle of Texas or Nevada (about 100 x 100 miles) and covered it with solar panels, it would provide 100% of the energy needs of the entire country.

Not on a single charge, no. But Tesla drivers already drive battery-powered cars across the country. Instead of stopping for gas, they stop at a Supercharger and charge up for free. Takes 1/2 hour instead of the 10 minutes gas takes, but it's not entirely unreasonable. Newer battery technologies are promising faster recharge times.

You're right, but it depends on what you mean by "a few years". Electric cars are obviously going to take over, but gasoline has an incredible infrastructure. So if you define "a few" as 25, I'd agree with you. But if you're thinking the situation is going to change in 5-7 years, I don't think there's a chance of that happening.

is he saying that it is capable of providing in theory or is capable of providing and distributing?

I didn't buy my M8 with any intention of being EPA compliant. When I made the purchase I bought RC headers and slips along with SE breather and SERT. I did ask the dealer about warranty and was told THEY would honor any warranty issues but could not attest to what other dealerships would do. Don't care, never have, never will. My money, my bikes. Fug the EPA.

Don't make any difference what makes our power, we will pay through the *** to get it, pure and simple. We might have cleaner air, but we will pay for it. I hope it takes over 25 years before it takes over, I will be to old to care, or dead.
