Your actually right and wrong. When the eps filed suit agains harley last year harley took it and laid 15 million. They then passed it on to the dealers stating that the decisions would be based up to them on warranty coverage. So now each dealer kinda gets to make their own rules on how to handle specific situations with hd Corp only spot checking warranty claims.
With that said hd Corp still plays a roll in the warranty. Call them and check they will tell you straight up but have to call the warranty claims dept not just the customer service dept.
anye epa and carb complient and certified exhaust SYSTEM in most any situation will not void the warranty but dealers have begun to only allow the sells of specific systems to you for the main reason that if they are warranting your bike then they know there will be no issues. Like my dealer will only sell you he or screaming eagle for a bike that they service and would possibly at any point warranty. They will tell you flat out other can void the warranty.
