Does ANYONE Like Their M8??

I love mine also. So far I trust it, but I haven't had any problems yet. I wont deny there is a little doubt in the back of my head that expects a problem to pop up at some point, but honestly if I never found HDF, I wouldn't have any doubt or any reason to doubt the bike.

Ask me on the 25th... I'm leaving on Monday for El Paso, a week long ride that takes through North and South Central Texas and into New Mexico. I'm headed home Saturday afternoon, stopping for a quick nap/shower, then home to Port Arthur (about 880 miles). Overall I should put about 2K in this Texas heat, 2-up with about 500 lbs in rider/passenger and gear.

I am a major nit-picker. When I buy a new bike I spend the first several weeks taking it apart to make sure all is well down into the dark places where no one wants to look. I live on my motorcycle, and won't tolerate a bike that is unreliable.
I've owned two beemers, and both of them had problems like oil leaks, blown head gasket, bad final drive bearing, etc.
Harley builds real motorcycles that will go the distance. But give it lots of break-in time. It takes a good 10k miles for the bike to fully break-in. The first few days, the new Harley will be noisy and stiff. The noises and stiffness will abide for several thousand miles. Don't form any strong opinions of the new Harley until you've put 10k miles on it.

Other than the heavy hydraulic clutch pull (which I corrected with an Oberon clutch lever), my M8 FLHR is a great bike, with a great engine. not a smidge of trouble. I took an extended test ride on a Fat Bob with an M8, near "naked bike" acceleration and handling.
Lots of pi$$ing and moaning about the M8 (and MANY many other things) on this forum-but for every moaner there are 100 happy riders.
