Had plastic intake manifold replaced in March.They said it melted.Everything was fine till today.I tried to go for a ride and it ran fine on fast idle,but, died when it came off fast idle.Started again, same thing.Taking in tomorrow and I bet it melted again.
Brilliant cost cutting. On an air cooled engine no less.
Ask the dumbasses if they are willing to install the HPI aluminum manifold in its place. It won't melt.
At the same time, I recommend looking into whether the bike is overheating due to sumping, which could easily raise temps to the point the manifold melts,
Before we all panic, consider all the reports of sumping and associated heat with burnt oil smell. It's odd that no one else has reported that the intake manifold had melted.
