Default Sumping solved

I had made made these same comments in an existing post but I figured I would start a new post. My bike (117”) would sump when hot and run at prolonged high rpms 3500+. I had dumped well over a quart of oil out of the sump on one test. I installed an S&S pump and plate and it helped but still was able to drain 11oz from the “dry” sump. I pulled the S&S pump and re-installed the Harley cam plate and pump with the newly released Harley oil pump cover section that has a rubber seal to seal off the crank area from the cam chest. I did the same prolonged high rpm run and only drained 1oz of oil. Problem finally solved!

Congrats, too bad someone else didn't beat you to it & save you some $$. Do you know if it's possible to incorporate the HD oil pump cover to the S&S pump?

No the Harley cover with the seal won’t bolt up to the S&S pump. Hopefully S&S will eventually modify their pump with a seal and sell the piece to modify the pump I bought.

Good preliminary news. Time and miles will tell. Please keep us advised. I sincerely hope this is the fix.

Great to finally hear of a definitive solution. My 114 has never sumped, but great to know there is a one stop economical solution for those who have endured sumping.
Would be nice to hear more confirmation that this is a one pill fix?

I guessed as much, but wanted to know for sure, thanks. As far as if it's the "fix" I don't recall anyone with a 19 that has reported sumping. let's hope this truly works for all those that have the problem. I know I'll install one the next time mine is apart even though I've had no sumping, 18K stock & 20K as a stg 2, still it worries me on long high speed runs.

That's great news. Although mine has never sumped, I already have the new oil pump and the new backplate/cover with seal on my work bench ready to go in when I change cams. Good to know it was a good purchase.

Incredibly cheap by the way. Pump and cover...

Would it be safe to assume that this new cover/seal is being used on all 2019 M8 engines?

I bet this new cover/seal was also used on the 2018's that were build at the end of the 2018 production run.

Mine has a build date of 5/18. Wonder if it would have this.
