Just spoke with the "exhaust expert" at a Harley dealership and was told that with any slip-on muffler change on the 2019 Road Glide Special I will have to install a Harley tuner for it to work and keep it within warranty. What the heck?!? My dad just had another dealership install aftermarket slip-ons on a brand new RGS he purchased without a tuner and was told he was good with warranty since the pipes were purchased from the dealership. The run-around can sure get frustrating...
Its bullshit. Been running slip ons only, no issues.
You dad will likely loose his warranty if he takes his bike to another dealer.. He'll have to go back to the original dealer to have any work done.
What? No. Slip-ons only will not cause Harley to void your warranty. Also, it has nothing to do with where you purchased your slip-ons, dealer or parts supplier, doesnt matter.
my 18 when i put the 4.5 motos on it had a affect on the idle the SE pipes not so much .
my guess is the best change would be do the stage 1 all at once , a lot of things are changing pretty fast as the platform matures . 25000 grand and no one seems to read the fn manual ,its really clear about what u can and cant do .
Yes I have. I've also had slip-ons for all of it. All warranty engine replacements (and bike replacement) inspected by, and approved by the motor company. Living proof that slip ons only will not void your warranty, nor were they the cause of the problems.

Don't think there is a exhaust expert for Harleys at any dealer in Oklahoma. I haven't met one yet. There is no slipon only map in the HD Screamin Turkey tuner software. I have the latest version updated yesterday. My rule of thumb is: If the slipon can be seen through from one end to the other load the basic Stage one map. If the slipon can't be seen through or has diverter baffles or lollipops in it stay with the oem map.
The SEPST serves to download an initial map into the ECM. It is then the second process to run the bike through a series of RPM and gear position runs under a host of conditions to develop a chart of parameters that can then be adjusted by a trained tuner. I know, I found one at a dealer some miles away from my local clueless dealer that only adds the HD canned tune, which was deemed a corrupt tune in my case for my specific bike using HD stage one kit parts. I read the many pages as to the data logging procedure using the SEPST and found it to be beyond my expertise. The dealer I used has a highly skilled tuner that uses a host of tuning equipment , some of which would not be within a new bikes warranty parameters, but is also well versed in the use of the SEPST.

Absolutely. Anything that is not specifically tested for emissions on an M8 by HD voids the warranty.. It also applies to 2017 model TCs. Look at the EPA decree..
BTW Just because some muffler meets noise standards doesn't mean it is auto-magically meets emissions/warranty standards.

This is true. Particularly of the new models that have the catalyst in the muffler.

Then you are one of the lucky ones.. What brand were they?
