I built my SS 124 big bore M8 using the DJ PV for fuel management and had it dyno-tuned at 121 hp /140 tq. I installed the ThunderMax iRide and wanted to take advantage of the monitoring capabilities built into the iRide monitor/screen, so i decided to switch over to the ThunderMax ecm. After making the switch and using a base map provided by Fuel Moto, I got in some dyn runs at the shop that dyno-tuned my bike with the DJ PV and recorded a drop in hp by 7 and a drop in torque by 5. I've since logged over 2000 miles with the Thundermax and can feel that the performance has improved. I plan on getting a couple more dyno runs in the fall to see if the mapping has improved (autotune). I have also tweaked the base map using tutorials found on YouTube to match some of the settings (e.g., AFR) on the dyno-tuned PV map. Both the TM and DJ units are excellent tuners and can be tweaked fairly easily by anyone willing to take the time to learn how each setting will change their bike's performance.

You can see the list of devices I ran below. Granted, that was on my ‘07 FB. I started with the PC III, then replaced it with the TMax with AT. I ran that until I did my 107” build at which point I went with a TTS as that is what my dyno tuner used.

The TMax was great and served me well. I had some problems with the PC III piggy back, but I’m not going to talk bad about it as it was sufficient for my modest needs at the time.

The TMax was more advanced, and yes expensive, but I found it to be worth the price of admission and feel I got my money’s worth out of it. It really did adapt well, and kept my bike running smoothly in all conditions we rode in (elevation and such).

Tuners have advanced considerably, as have the bikes, so I’m not going to tell the OP to go one way or the other. I’ll just say that the TMax was worth it to me, and I never had any issues with it.
probably wouldn't matter anyway as OP posted this over 2 1/2 years ago sorry just couldn't help it

Sorry for going off-topic, but where did you ride that was 14.5K ft elevation?
