I see what you did there, and yes, it was a great catch. If this is the root cause of sumping it just needs to be confirmed on a few more problem bikes. It could definitely explain why some do it and some don't, i'm wondering if the ones that don't are thin in that area and just not broken through completely.
I see no reason why one couldn't merely collapse even stock PR tubes, pull plugs and crank starter. Use front for reference if needed.
It's hard to say in 1200 miles if that leak got worse over time but with the
engine oil hot the amount of oil leaking would be a lot, its amazing the scavange
pump kept up. if the leak was there from the factory one would think the
scavange capacity is well in the green on a non leaking oil system.

Pulled out about 40 oz of oil out the sump drain. Took everything apart because I just installed aftermarket pump and plate. As I do. I always spin engine with starter while PR are out. This pumps the lifters and shows me I am primed with pressure before I move on. Rear lifters were putting out more oil than I have ever seen in any engine. Further investigation. I found this. Thats a lot of unmetered oil entering the engine.
Were there any symptoms of sumping before the plate & pump upgrade?
Was the aftermarket pump installed designed to increase pressure?
I wonder if there are more out there maybe not leaking to this degree but still dumping more oil into the cam chest than it can handle. My question all along has been "is the sumping caused by cavitation or flooding?" In this particular case it's definitely flooding

An excellent find and thanks for sharing it
I don't know and either did customer. He had another bike with a stage 2 from dealer and their latest "seal fix." Was down in Blue Ridge Parkway and bike started sumping bad. He said he didn't really feel that much loss of power but oil out breather enough to soak that side of bike. Somewhere out there he traded that bike for this one, and rode home. He rode the new one for 1000 pretty gingerly. He wanted to check out rest of bike before he ruined his warranty. Brakes, wheels, fork leaks, blah blah. I know this is earth shattering evidence in any way but it is what I know.
On the dyno after big bore. I was making 130 140 with the drop on kit. Right in line with what I see these put out. My tell tale was oil pouring out of breather. Mot because of power loss.
For more info. With push rods out. Worse I got with leak down on either front or rear at TDC, mid stroke and BTC was 85 over 90.
