The Cannons are one of the very few dresser mufflers that don't lose low end torque. Looks like Harley nailed it on the performance side with them
they sure as heck perform fantastic when they are in one piece..switching to others might introduce some snap, crackle or pop or be a compromised in other undesirable ways since my bike was tuned with them..sure can't afford to 'experiment' with different sets..guess modifying the stockers to save money if it came to that wouldn't cost anything or hurt to just try

Crazy they keep breaking. The set that just broke, are they the version 2 cannons?

no, they were the replacement set from the first ones that had loose baffle, got about 20,000 miles on them before they split in half yesterday...hoping the new version ones hold together because they sound great..I would think with all the problems the first gen had HD must have contacted their supplier and said

RGR. Well damn. I hope my set doesn't break. I have the V2s and just got them a few months ago. Best damn pipes I've put on the bike yet... Good luck MJ.

thanks, they really are nice and for $450 hard to beat, but not with a 1 year warranty...shouldn't have to add mufflers to the annual list of replacement things like tires..spent $200 on the defiance end caps too so that plays into the decision of giving them another try even if I have to buy them..but, for now..I bought the originals with end caps and they've replaced 2 sets for free..aggravating but at least not costing me yet..ruined my beach trip ride with friends yesterday, halfway there told them to go on without me while I mickey moused a way to keep them from going from slip ons to 'slip offs'..it was close, the bracket slider worked its way as far as it could but there was very little overlap keeping them from dropping down to the ground..a good pothole might have done it....but cinching them up with a chain and zip ties from a potted plant I procured from the Dominos pizza guy a block away did the job.....sorry for being long winded..but one more funny fact..the backroad I took home to stay off the freeway is a favorite, and have never gone down it without hitting 80mph ish, hardly ever any traffic and never seen a cop on it..so I'm putzing along doing the speed limit at 45 listening to my rattle trap muffler and keeping an eye on it to make sure it didn't snap the chain, and maybe get caught in the belt/sprocket/brakes, whatever..and I pass a cop off the side of the road tucked away looking for speeders...so indirectly the bad muffler may have saved me a very hefty ticket..funny how chit happens sometimes
i had the first gen on my 2017 and the logos broke off and one started to rattle pretty good, they swapped them out for the 2nd gen SC and they seem to be much better sounding , little deeper etc, i am still going to get rid of the cat though that thing gets to bloody hot under the wife's foot.
MJ,
Buy a set of those new Rinehart DBX 4.5's and let us know how they sound, I'm curious.
Any feedback on the forum for these yet? I like that they claim to have improved the baffle but I wish they would explain a little better. I'm really interested as I really like my wife's rineharts.

Checked with rinehart about baffle type/size, waiting to hear back.
