My '19 RG does it too. Never does it hot, but it will do it at cold startup for about 30 seconds. It's noticeably worse beginning about 1,500 miles into an oil change. I'm wondering if switching to a set of S&S lifters might solve the problem. Has anyone tried this yet?

I've mentioned before on other threads I'm on my 3rd set of lifters worse was the SE I paid for those to upgrade to avoid dealing with the issue again long story short SE lasted only few hundred miles.
Service Mgr. called Moco tech dept and they told him to refund me and sent him a fresh set of the stock ones. Even these latest ones are getting noisier after 4K miles. Moco had the service mgr to perform the oil pressure which is checked out above 40 PSI. Not sure what's going on but I hate that ticking noise.
We have 2 CVOs bought same time serviced same time using same oil and stuff one is very quiet and other sounds like it's going tear it self.

Little update, Sunday I changed the spectro synthetic and k&n filter out for harley 360 oil and a harley filter. Plus I added a 1/2qt of lucas oil stabilizer. It seemed to quiet down. When I fired it up to head to work today it was quiet, but then 8hrs later when leaving work it was ticking for about 2 secs again. It was 53 degrees when I left so maybe that's a factor. Other than that it runs excellent so I'm going to ride it for rest of the season and see how bad it gets. I have a feeling I'll be swapping them out for s&s lifters over the winter though.

from Owners manual..don't sweat it man

The hydraulic lifters are self-adjusting. They automatically adjust length to compensate for engine expansion and valve mechanism wear. This keeps the valve mechanism free of lash when the engine is running.
When starting an engine which has been turned off even for a few minutes, the valve mechanism may be slightly noisy until the hydraulic units completely refill with oil. If at any time the valve mechanism becomes abnormally noisy, other than for a short period immediately after engine is started, it is an indication that one or more of the hydraulic units may not be functioning properly.

Didn't know that was in the manual. Makes sense so I guess it's not too much of a big deal then. Thanks

HD hasn't had the best of luck with lifters for quite a few years now, so when I had my Stage 2 installed, i had them use S&S lifters to avoid having to deal with them.

Hate to sound like like a H-D dealership service writer but, to coin their phrase, "It's normal - they all do that."

Well, at least my '18 and '19 M8s both do.

Right, my 2017 M8 did it too, then it started lasting longer and longer, then they put 4 new lifters in it.
