Is there anything stopping me doing the Stage 2 upgrade with standard pipes in place?
Have a 114 M8.
Thanks.
There is one guy on this forum who added the cam and air cleaner but left the stock mufflers. He seemed very happy with the result. Maybe he will chime in.
Ive been looking around at some new 19's. I phoned one dealer and inquired about a street glide 114. i was told it had the stage 2 kit installed in it, so i asked what cam, A/C and slip ons they used. They responded it was cam only. Im not sure how they can claim it's a stage 2 with just a cam ,but thats there call.
Had the stage 2 torque cam and SE tune installed on my 2019 RGU 114 two weeks ago.
I'm running stock pipes and air cleaner.
Engine pulls hard up to 3500 but I didnt go any further as I'm still breaking it in as it has new jugs and pistons also.
In stock form the engine was done at 3500 and power delivery fell off quickly after that.
Big difference though from stock.
Super responsive.
I had the stage 2 tq cam done on my 114 Heritage two years ago. I put Canons on at the time. Loved it, but also noticed 3,500 drop off. After about 300 miles break in on the new cam I started stretching it out. Within 100 miles it was pulling very strong to 4800. I think yours will get there.
Most people say the m8 performs better with the stock exhaust due to the higher back pressure. So I think doing a cam and stock pipes would be a great combo from a performance standpoint.

Harley's recommended configuration is the Ventilator air cleaner and Street Cannons slip-ons, with the stock headpipe. My '18 114 M8 came with the Ventilator, so to complete the Stage II it required the camshaft and some slip-ons. I went with S&S, but the Street Cannons will probably perform every bit as good.
