I swear I'm going to start a business buying stock head pipes for all bikes 2017 and up. Because when the EPA cracks down and requires smog you all will have to buy from me for double the amount of my cost. Buy a damn exhaust header and save your original pipe just in case one day it happens then you won't need to call me.
Let us know when you get your stockpile of pipes, K? You can call my dealer, he has a metal recycling bin the size of a small house full of them. Send me your info, I am sure if you pay shipping, he will get you set up for your scrapyard.
I removed my cat without removing the header from the bike. Drilled around the outside with the long 1/2" bit (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Bosch-1-...005T/204415336) and then used a chisel to break it loose. Cleaned it up with a burr bit. Wasn't worried about anything left in it, it will blow out.
Exactly what I did upon reading your description a while ago Stone.
Bought a similar bit in your link off Amazon, left the pipe on the bike and got it hospital clean. It took 3+ charges on my Ryobi drill however, haha.
People who take the pipe off, or window a pipe that they acquired are living in the old twin cam days (where you had to window those).
