Default Engine temps

So I just installed lowers on my Road Glide, I noticed I can feel a little more heat on my right leg where the front pipe is, not much but more than I’ve felt in the past, from the research I’ve done I’ve kinda determined that the felt heat and the actual engine temperature aren't necessarily related, and that the lowers will make you feel more heat. Anyway, I decided to mount my PV and monitor my temps and see where it runs at just out of curiosity. I have the thundermax oil cooler fan also.

I rode to work this morning, about 20 Miles of flat freeway riding at 75mph, it was 35 degrees this morning and the lower vents were closed. My engine temp got up to 310 degrees and the cylinder head temp was around 330 degrees before they kinda stabilized there.

On the way home, same route, 50-55 degrees this time, with the vents open. This time the temps got to about 290 Engine and 320 At the head.

That’s quite a bit warmer than I thought they would be, the bike runs awesome when it’s cooler out. I wish I had done some testing before I installed the lowers, maybe another day, they’re staying on till summer At least.

Also, does anyone know if the PV can display oil temp and pressure? I can’t seem to find the parameters on the list of ones it can display.

It can’t display oil temp and pressure because your bike doesn’t have sending units that provide that info to the ECM. Your stock oil pressure sending unit is just a pressure switch. Oh, with my lowers on, it isn’t uncommon to see 380-390 cylinder head temps at 70 degrees ambient, while cruising at hiway speeds, after the bike is fully warmed up (20-30 minutes of riding).
