Always fill with 93 octane (witch has a fuel stabilizer in it) plug in to a battery tender and start up bike and let it run a few times during the winter. Simple!
not good for battery, and if you aren't going to get it up to full operating temp, which you won't letting it idle for a bit and won't burn off condensation, and idling won't charge battery..put it away with after a long ride with fresh oil and gas stabilizer and full tank of gas then just leave it on the battery tender
My bikes get the tanks filled with 93 and a splash of startron. I clean them .Then plug in the battery tender and throw the covers on. Then they sleep until around April.
full tank, battery tender, some sea foam for stabilizer or what have you, put on 3/4 inch plywood, cover and let simmer for 5 months!!!!! i never start the bike in the winter, oil will get foamy and your risk running real thin **** up top. check tires once or so and move bike forward or back a bit once.
Most important is to visit bike a few times in dead of winter, pop a beer, sit on it, if a touring model listen to radio, will make winter past more quickly.

Eactly what I do and totally agree about starting your bike not good!

do not start the bike, unless you are going for a ride long enough for it to come up to temperature for a while. Otherwise you get a lot of condensation build up,
edit: oh yeah, I’m quoting someone else. Never live north of Interstate 10.

If over 28-30 degrees no ice it goes down the road.... but i use stabile 40% of the year. If using 93 oct... its got 10 % ethanol to begin with to make 93 oct. than another 10% in my area code.... so that makes gas garbage in 2 1/2 to 3 weeks so if your bike is a garage queen it needs stabilizer all year. Ethanol sucks up water/ moisture quick. When i fill up twice a week no need......
Not a believer in unattended battery tenders.... 3 house fires i know of contributing ... thats way too many.
