I'm looking into a new cam on my 17 Road King.
I do 75% highway/slab riding.
I've noticed running above 80 mph, typically 85 mph, my fuel mileage is ****. I'm running around 3,500 rpms. Not that I'm really concerned about fuel mileage, but perhaps it's relevant.
I've got SE tuner, SE Stage 1 intake, V&H Power Duals, & Titan 450 slip ons.
What cam do you all recommend? I've been eyeing the Redshift 468 but I'm far from decided.
TIA
Where do you want the power ? Do you want grunt off the bottom or top end everrun(lol)(JK). Where you want your power will decide. You do state that you run the bike around 3.5K on the highway most all cams will do that. I'm a short shifter I rev till around 4k or LESS and shift up ,I like grunt down low so a cam like the RS468 would suit me. If I revved it the moon S@S 475 might be for me.From what I've seen the top 3 drop in cam performers on dyno graphs are the RS 468, the CR480 ,Steve's Coles new TTS175 and the S@S 475 if you like to rev it a bit.Just my opinions not law .They'll all get you there I've just bought a NIB RS468 I wanted a CR480 but that was before the new TTS175 ,do I care that I didn't get either of the others, not at all , they're all solid. Do your math and let us know what you're up to
There's lots of great choices. TTS, Redshift, S&S, Woods, etc... Can't hardly go wrong with any of em. I love my setup, but would probably be equally happy with some of the other offerings.
There's a couple cam testing threads out there. I'm, sure several other members can chime in that can give better insights.
I forgot to add on the 80+mph bits I am in 6th gear. Making me wish there was a 7th... LOL
I stay under 4,000 pretty much all the time.
Any problems tuning for those listed cams with the SE tuner?
I realize it's a petty thing but how do the lopes & general sound compare on those?
Thank you gentlemen
The regular EPA SE tuner might be a little awkward with those cams , the pro super tuner would be fine. Warranty is obviously not a thing so a better tuner than the EPA SE one might be in order.
They all sound better than stock and have some lope .

I'd recommend using a differnt tuner, such as tts mastertune or a powervision. Sound is pretty subjective and of course depends a lot on exaust, but mine sounds fairly wicked and is very similar to the rs468. The s&s 475, imho, is the best from this perspective as it has the most 'old school' sound. Other than the hd torq cam, these are the only ones I'm personally familiar with.
Its more aerodynamic drag where mileage drops not the cam. I've had several bikes with all types of cams once over 80mph down goes the mileage unless you're going with the wind

Peace.
What is the pro super tuner? I do not think they have such a tuner. They have "Smart Tune" which uses wide band O2 sensors, but it works with the pro-street tuner. (I think, but I am not sure, that even with the Smart Tune, you are still going to have the limitations of the pro-street tuner. Not sure it would be able to tune a bike that DID NOT have a catalytic converter.

Screaming Eagle Pro Super Tuners were common prior to 2017. They were not epa compliant and were discontinued, in the states at least. Pretty sure they're still available in certain countries overseas. https://www.ebay.com/i/254398932531?...AaAnewEALw_wcB
The SE Smart Tune Pro Auto tune module works in conjuction with the SE epa approved maps loaded via the Pro Street Tuner. It's extremely simple and works pretty good.... had this on my 17.
