Default Oil Pressure Gauge on M8

While over at Pensacola HD today I saw a bike in service with a real oil pressure gauge. Never seen this mount before and it plumbed in toward the right front side of the motor.

I am not interested in one but wanted to share this for anyone that is considering adding one. Thought it looked good.

Looks pretty nice. Not super expensive either.

How many times are you going to look at it instead of the road? Light on dash would get my attention quicker, my luck the one time not looking at it will be the time it drops to 0.

I have had one on my 17 RGS for about a year and half or so...last spring I was on a day trip with some buddys and we pulled over to put on rain gear..got ready to pull out start bike and oil light came on..checked boom and said check oil..really didn't know what to do..about 60 miles from home..wait I look down see I am holding 20 psi of pressure! Drove the ole girl home no issues..If I did not have the pressure gauge she would have sit under the bridge and been towed home..Faulty oil pressure sensor was the issue. Money well spent!

You have a very good point about having one, you just changed my mine about it and might add one just for what happened to you, thanks.

Exactly same reason we put them on a few.....personally was 1650 miles from home...check engine light came on ...with check oil BS in boom.
glanced down at a simple stewart warner gauge we use....35 lbs kept going till next fillup. Oil pressure sender bad...still is bad 20k later and comes in every now and than. For the 65 bucks it cost for an fittings line and gauge. Worth no worries if you ride in out of the way areas... Wont get into the easy of install as we have a few waxers that probably shouldn't do this on there own ..lmfao. If you cant glance at a gauge probably be a good idea to stay in the porch or trailer it....MERRRY CHRISTMAS.

The way I figure it my bikes are gonna run the same regardless of what such a gauge says. So Mark, they look nice but do I need it? Nah....

I run a oil pressure gauge on all my bikes and trucks!! I run heavy equipment for a living the last 35 years and can vouch first hand that preventative maintenance and keeping an eye on all available gauges will prevent allot of headaches and expense!! a quality gauge will alert you to serious problems long before they turn into complete failure !! most often by the time a dummy light will come on its too late the damage has been done!!
