Default Which manifold

Was just about to order the throttle body and manifold for my S&S 124 build with FM ported heads, noticed SE has two manifolds. A CNC 64mm and a 55mm one. I’m assuming I’d want the 64mm manifold for my ported heads and 64mm Throttle body correct?

You need to define what it is your looking for.. The throttle body and intake need to be replaced if your looking to get all you can, so where is it not worth it, really plays into this. IMHO using the SE replace intake is a must as we have seen that improve a stock 117 engine output, this is using the stock throttle body still. Now as the engines get bigger the restriction point the throttle body itself comes into play. From idle to ~4000 RPM we have seen no improvement from the larger throttle bodies, all improvements are at or above that RPM. Now go to a 128 that RPM point might move slightly lower in the RPM say down to 3800 RPM. So you must first decide if you want the Larger throttle body and if not use the smaller SE manifold along with the stock throttle body. So is it worth it for you based on the RPM range you ride the bike in has to be answered only by you.

I’m building an S&S 124, Fuel Moto Level A heads, 550 cam, D&D 2-1, I was planning on using the SE 64mm throttle body and manifold, didn’t realize there was 2 options. Is the 55 just a cast version of the stock one? It says the 64mm manifold is a CNC one. I was just asking which manifold is ideal for what in doing, and I was guessing the 64mm manifold would go with the 64mm throttle body.

Not really looking for crazy torque at 2200RPM, that’s not how I ride. Looking for really strong mid range to top end power without giving up all my low end torque. The S&S cam might not be the best choice for What I am trying to do but I’m giving it a shot, might change it out later if I don’t like it.

The SE 64mm TB includes the manifold, they do offer a CNC ported manifold that can be purchased separately, the SE CNC manifold does not flow quite as much as the Ward ported manifold but works well. The HPI 62mm TB is a very nice piece as well, the HPI requires you to send in your OEM TB core as they use the servo from them. We carry the SE 64mm units with the Ward manifold porting already done and we also stock the HPI TB's ready to go on the shelf for core exchange. You can check them out here> https://www.fuelmotousa.com/c-120561...ttle-body.html

The stock 64MM manifold has that crazy casting that will limit your top-end power. FM generally suggests sending these manifolds in to have them ported, which removes the center ridge on the head side of the manifold. If you look at HD's Extreme-Flow manifold the ridge is gone.

This week I finished ordering parts for my 128ci build. I had planned to buy the 64mm TB w/ Ward manifold from FM, but they were out of stock, so I started looking for throttle bodies elsewhere. Here's what I ended up getting for $580.67 (shipped):

- HD P/N 27300147 (SE 64MM Throttle Body w/o Manifold)
- HD P/N 27300185 (SE Extreme-Flow 64MM Intake Manifold)
- HD P/N 27400040 (High-Flow 5.5g/m Injector Kit)

The 64MM TB+Manifold form the P&A catalog (27200040) is $499.95, so it pays to do some shopping.
