My last two Harleys were twin cams. Sold my softail springer and got the Electra Glide Standard with the 107 engine. My softail was a 5-speed. Still February but I lucked out with a clear 55degree day... so off I went. I was able to put in a 250 mile day and all I can say is the M8 can eat up the miles. It just purred along.

NICE!! Glad to hear it.
1. Why did you go to the Electra Glide?
2. Out of curiosity, now that you are on the Electra Glide, if u had to switch back to the softail, what would be your thoughts now u have experienced the EG?
Can't wait for Spring, mine has 500 miles on it so far,it's my 3rd E-Glide having owned an '89 Evo and an '00 TC 88.
Hoped for a nice day this weekend as it was sunny and 60 yesterday but I couldn't get on it due to working long hours, today it's been snowing off and on all day, go figure.
Still have the 2000,hope to sell or trade it for something come Spring. It's got a fresh 103" build with ported heads and gear drive cams but I'll be lucky to get back the money I spent on the engine alone and it's got many more new parts. Nearly everything has been rebuilt or replaced but with close to 200K miles on the frame it's a hard sell.

It came down to the RK 114 or the EGS 107 and the Electra just rode better. I like modding and wrenching so the Electra Standard was a good platform to do what I wanted... and I wanted black anyway.
I loved my Springer 88 and my softail before that. I tour with a buddy of mine every year and my softails left me too exposed for the kind of miles we put in so the batwing was a nice change. I could have ridden the Electra 500 miles and not be half as tired I would have been on my softail.
if my garage were bigger I would have kept it though.

I'm sorry you couldn't keep the Springer, it's a beautiful bike and you will miss it! But I understand the limitations of floor space in the garage. I was able to keep my '03 Wide Glide when we bought a '10 EGUL, my wife wanted something more comfortable. I later traded the EGUL for a '17 RGS anyway to this day, when I go out to the garage to ride solo, it's a tough choice because I enjoy riding both of them.
And yes the images do look like Lolo Pass (one of my favorite rides) and the Crazies. Ride safe and enjoy the new bike
Congrats on the new ride. I'm in the same boat... Going from an 88 twinkie Electra Glide Classic to a 107 M8 Road Glide Ultra this year. Rented one in LA back in January and it was enough for me to look for one.
