I put 195 miles on the built motor yesterday in the Foothills of the Smoky Mountains. Bike is very well mannered, very smooth and easy to ride. Throttle response is good and its linear which makes it fun in the curves. Power is very good everywhere but roll on power in 6th at 75mph is just incredible, no need to down shift to pass a line of cars. Very pleased with how this turned out.
That cam is high on my list for a stage II in my light bike.
Bike is getting tuned in the morning, I put about 150 East miles on it with my base tune from from FM just to make sure there wasnt gonna be any leaks or and get everything seated in. Im actually really surprised how quiet the valve train is compared to 475 cam. Cant wait to see what it makes, it feels strong 💪

There have been a few build using that cam in close to stock motor and with head work and throttle bodies, but most were at or around 11 to 1 compression. Going up to 12.1 to 1 really wakes this cam up, it seams to really like compression.
The CR480 is a lot more popular than the CR482 I am running.
Bud I'd watch some of Moonshine's videos... I'm pretty sure anything over 130's and they replace the clutch basket at least and use a different clutch but for a fact the basket is gonna break with the power your making... They seem to build a lot of high hp motors and know their stuff..
Picked the bike up from the tuner yesterday evening. I have not got to ride it much as it has been a monsoon out side. Hoping today the roads dry out a bit so I can get a good ride in. Very impressed with the build.
Wondering if you might shoot me the info if said person would be interested in doing a similar build... or hell exact for that matter lol... I'm like you I put alot of miles on my bike and this would be the traveler that goes across the country 2up... I've had J&B tune a 2011 CVO I had .. Great guys..
Thanks for hijacking my thread with your superior build, 12 to 1 on pump gas? In an air cooled engine? Or are you using corn fuel?
Just got mine back. Ended up at 143hp and 137ft lbs. Makes 120+ft lbs from 2500 to 6000. Ridiculous torque 😎 Harley should make them like this from the factory.
Looks great, can you list your build components, cam, exhaust etc
SS 124 (11:1 compression)
S&S 550C cam, lifters and pushrods
Fuel Moto A heads with the woods springs
Ward CNC manifold
SE 64mm TB
Fuel Moto Ventilator air cleaner
D&D Billet cat
5.5 FM injectors
AIM SDR and heavy springs
S&S oil pump and cam plate
S&S rocker studs, head bolts, and tappet cuffs
I think the 408 cam from woods or Fuelling 521 probably would of did better on torque but I love how the 550 cam sounds and it came in the engine kit and I didnt wanna spend another 300 bucks on a cam to get maybe 5 more ft lbs down low.

The build was done by myself and a very good friend. J&B has tuned a few bikes for me including my 13 CVO King and this one.

Very nice build. Sorry about highjacking your thread. Not my intentent. Your build is very good, and will be a lot better on clutch, belt and transmission.
As for pump gas at 12.1 to 1 yes, no problem at all. It depends on cam, duration and overlap. Stock CCP is 226 to 229 do to variance in production line. My bike is 228 CCP.
The M8 is more tolerant of higher compression due to the 4 valve heads. My TC build is 11.4 to 1 and its much finicky about the gas I use. Have to have pure gas at 93 for it to not ping.

I was just kidding. I just went with a combo I knew would work, its basically the same build Fuel Moto does but with the S&S cam instead. You put a lot more effort into thinking yours through. I wrench for a living and just wanna ride it mostly, I like working in it sometimes but I didnt really wanna mess around with part combos experimenting.
