I can cope with a “slight” increase in volume but I don’t want it too loud. I’m not sure how much I’d notice 7% increase in torque and HP tbh so on that basis I think I’ll go for the cheaper hi flow air cleaner as it will feel like better value for money. You say either air cleaner or ecm recalibration will give you more hp and torque but I thought you HAD to have the ecm recalibrated when you changed the air cleaner?

correct
I don’t want it too loud.
it won't be significant

in the States HD states it's required with their SE Pro Street Tuner

Rain sock not necessary. Had a round open ac on a couple bikes, rode through many biblical rain storms without one, no issues.

The first filter in my 114 ventilator stained up with rust, because I had taken the sock off in damp weather.

That's a product quality issue, not so much about how the engine performs.

Thanks for all the replies. Been mulling this over overnight and started thinking that going straight for a stage 2 might be better value for money, as I would assume that I would notice more of a performance upgrade? Assuming I went for the torque stage II kit hw significant would the noise levels be compared to what I have now, ie stock bike with V&H twin slash slip ons?

On a side note, I've noticed that from a cold start at idle slightly more exhaust gases come out of one pipe more than the other, is this normal?

yeah, if you're wanting more of an exhilaration acceleration rush cam is the way to go..Stage 1 is just a little more of the same over stock..
noise increase will be noticeable, but not like if you switched to some much louder mufflers..
yes on the mufflers working as designed because of the crossover

Yes, because of the crossover and the different length and shapes of the left and right size pipes.

Thanks. It's difficult to gauge how much louder it will be I guess as one person's "not so loud" is another person's "deafening". I've heard some crazy pipe such as the V&H short shots, and also ridden a demo bike with some Jekill and Hyde pipes and I couldn't hear myself think when I pressed the button to open the baffles

Just been looking more at the high flow and ventilator air cleaners and as they’re smaller than the standard air cleaner it exposes some wires and plugs shown in the pics, is there a way to hide these?
