This question is for those who have a M8 touring model and have installed the fuel moto road and track. Does
your front head pipe have the angled offset that you see in my picture. It seems to me the trans mount bracket is going to be offset and will not mate up square to the case, just doesn't seem right to me.
The pipe mounts right up like the stock head pipe, zero issues. Also note it does not mount to the trans, it mounts to the engine case like the factory exhaust system

Thank you for the reassurance. Also rather than the supplied muffler clamp can a HD oem clamp be used? I also stand corrected about the mounting location of the lower head pipe mount.

I just installed this pipe last week and it fit perfectly...I mean even better than the stock head pipe. Very high quality...the header itself looks beautiful (stainless and takes on a nice gold tone) and I would run it without heat shields if I didn't have the black muffler. Also, if you're running a cam prepare yourself for a very deep, loud, muscular growl under acceleration that mellows nicely at cruising speeds. The decel sound on this pipe is a head turner for sure. Don't freak out if you find it too loud initially...after about 300 miles mine mellowed very nicely. I've owned several different exhaust systems over the years including a D&D Fatcat. The Road & Track is the sweetest exhaust I've owned.
One word of caution- the R&T comes with the flat (not tapered) gaskets and they are a loose fit (as compared to the god forsaken stock tapered gaskets). When I installed mine I didn't realize that the gasket fell out of the front exhaust port and I buttoned up the install before firing it and hearing the tick (exhaust leak) from the front cylinder. If the muffler doesn't line up with the muffler support bracket then you know something is wrong (mine was probably 3/8" to the outside of the bracket). I had to uninstall to put the front exhaust port gasket in and put a few dabs of copper anti-seize on the back surface of the gasket to hold it in place while I reinstalled the pipe. Worked like a charm.
Anyway, congrats on the new R&T- you're gonna love it.

I also ordered the new rtx baffle that fuel moto just developed for the road and track. I was told that it would mellow out a little more at cruising speed compared to the original baffle.

That's cool, come back and post a reply about the RTX. Do you plan on running the stock baffle first for comparison?

I may do that. I hope the perforated baffle will slip out leaving the packing in place. Then hopefully I can slip the new rtx baffle inside of the existing packing.

I don't imagine it'll come out hard if the muffler has not been run or if it's barely run. Jamie advised that the mellowing of the pipe in the first 300 miles is due to the baffle wrap "lofting". I'm guessing it'll slide out relatively easy if new or near new. Either way I'm looking forward to your review of the RTX baffle.

I swapped mine out yesterday for the RTX baffle and reused the packing. you will have to remove the packing but it will slide right back on the new baffle. It has a great sound and is just enough mellower than the standard baffle.

If you don't mind answering a few questions:
1) did the RTX affect the idle sound/volume?
2) did it mellow the sound under load or just at steady cruising speed?
3) any felt difference in torque/power?
I love the way my R&T sounds but the large baffle might be just a bit big for my setup. I was considering the 6" insert F/M offers to restore a little low end but would consider the RTX if it does the same and depending on how it sounds. Thanks in advance.
