I want to do a stage 2 on my RG, presently I have Jack Pot 2-1, AC and Powervision. Im thinking about RedShift 268 cam. Local dealer says about 500 for parts and 1200 for labour includes a few hours on Dyno. I called one local indy and waiting on a quote. Is it a fair price?

Cam $300 or less
Cam bearing $15 or less
Lifters $230 or less
Adjustable Push Rods $185 or less
Gaskets $25
Install Labor 4 hours
Dyno time 2 hours
These are not being cheap but fair prices and labor time on a M8 camshaft install.
"about 500 for parts and 1200 for labour includes a few hours on Dyno? $1700 doesn't really sound out of line to me...assuming "500 for parts" includes cam, push rods, new lifters and cam bearing and misc supplies..I was quoted ~$1500 a couple years ago for the same package..you could try and barter them down a bit I guess..if they are really good and reputable and will do a top notch job go for it
OP it sounds a little high on the labor. I was quoted less than $1500 TOTAL for stage II with cam, SE Tuner, new 8 lobe oil pump, misc components and labor. I ended up doing a Stage III and the total labor was $1,180.00.
I know there are minimums for Dyna runs but cannot imagine HOURS on a dyno for just a cam?
Get two or three estimates and make the decision you are happy with.
Would you consider doing the install yourself? The M8 cam is ridiculously easy to install and a cam kit containing everything you'll need (minus the tools) would run around $550-$600. You've already got the pipe, AC and tuner so you could be in and out at around $600 if you're willing to run a canned map and then autotune it. I know, many live and die by the dyno but I did exactly what I described above and am more than happy with the results. I may dyno it someday but for now it's more than I need. RS468, HD Heavy Breather, PV2 and FM Road & Track.

This is what I did, had the same starting point as the OP. Price for cam kit, K&N AC element and tune for my PV was $650. This kit can be installed by an independent shop, no dyno tune needed, just three auto tunes.
