My bike is booked in to the dealership today to get looked at but just wanted to see if anyone had something similar. My bike is a 2019 model with the 107" with stage 1 and just over 18 months old.
Sound starts at around 2500 rpm sounds like a metallic rattling. Thought it could've been exhaust heat shields, that's the sort of area the sound is coming from. Removed heat shields but the noise persists. I've heard someone recently that had a hydraulic lifter fail and they described the same sound. I tried searching to see if anyone had similar issues but couldn't find anything.
Maybe I do. I have had my 2019 RG in the shop for a noise that I describe as a "flutter" that almost sounds like pinging or pre ignition but isn't. It begins around 2,500 and I only hear it under load and it does not have to be a heavy load. The sound is so quiet that the fans on the dyno made it impossible to pinpoint where it was coming from but both the tech and the GM heard it during a road test. Even though its pretty quiet it is all I hear when I roll onto the throttle. Performance does not seem to be affected at all.

I've owned 4 M8's since 2017 and every one makes the same noise. My latest, a 2020 114 makes the same noise starting at 3,000 - 3,500. If anyone every figures out what this noise is they get the prize.
Diagnosing a strange noise over the internet is fool's play. Get the damn thing into a dealer where they can actually listen or drive it. Not all the mechanical noises that internal combustion engines sometimes make are signs of trouble. If the noise is clearly defined and they have seen it before they will tell you. Harley engines have always made a host of noises due to their design.

Reason: spelling
I have the same noise on a 2018 RGS with the 107. First thing I did was remove the heat shields because thats where the noise sounds like its coming from. Then I checked the torque on all the bolts in the area. Nothing seemed to make a difference. Just dropped it off at the dealer for 5,000 mile service and hope they can figure it out.

Thanks for your input, I'm not asking anyone to diagnose the problem, my bike is already at the dealer. Just wondering if anyone had similar symptoms and what the results were.
My understanding was these forums were a place for sharing information. My mistake.

Found the same issue on my 2020 FXBB today. Starts at 2500 RPMs and is still present in lower RPMs after it starts, until the RPMs drop to about a 1000.
Have you found a solution? What was the source?
Thanks!
