Default Buy a 2018 M8 RK or wait for later model?

Damit ... !
Ok, I am still THRILLED with my 14 RK ... but, what if, lets say, I go off the deep end next week and fall in love with a 2018 RK 5K miles.
Would it be a stupid move or not?
Freaking forums, you never know, so many posts about early M8 issues but you dont hear about the ones with no issues. I guess that is still valid for 2018/ yes, I know ...
Looks like a "stock" engine .. ..which is what I want. So what is the chance that I will have issues with oil migration ect ... ect .. is it 5% of the bikes out there, 10%? 15% 2% ... or should I just stay with my dead on reliable 14RK for just a while longer until I can swing it for something like a 2020?

I know (forgot his name) in here has a 2017 RK and its been great for him ... any others?
My 14 RK bike is not a around town bike, I do A LOT of interstate riding in HOT weather ... 90+ degrees and 70 to 80 MPH ... I still do not ever have to add oil between changes and bike has never needed a repair with now 28,500 miles on it ..

So ? thoughts?

That's not the deep end. If you did it that's only like falling in when sober. The deep end would be a new 2021 CVO.

Sounds like you have a good dependable bike now, I'd keep it.
The only way I'd buy an early Milwaukee 8 is if they threw in a 2 year warranty. I've heard of too many stories of people trading in problem M8's to get rid of them.

I agree with keeping your 14RK and get a later model

My 2017 migrated a small bit of oil from the tranny but not much. Didn't have the vent installed before I traded it off. No sumping or any other issues with some pretty hard riding on it. It's probably the internet where you're hearing all the noise.

Don’t, you already have 6 speed trans and 6 gallon tank. I did trade my 2004, there are times I think it would have been fine to just add a six speed and cruise control to the 04. There are a lot of miles left in your 2014.

I think the twin cam motor is a bit smoother at higher RPM.

paid for? reliable, (extremely low miles) by my standards anyway ). keep riding it but ride it more..then trade it in when you need a new one

You will know when the time is right the new bike will call you out and after the test ride possibly a new bond will be formed.

Personally do what feels right to you. All I'll add is I've got a 17 Road King that was built in August of 16 so one of the first Road Kings with a M8 and other than 2 minor recalls it's just been fuel up and ride with scheduled maintenance. Good Luck with whatever you decide.

I just traded my 2017 RGU with about 20K for a 2020, I did not have one minutes trouble with the 2017. I bought the bike in Jan of 201 and I think the build date was Nov 2016 so it was one of the early 2017s. I left the engine stock in the 2017 with added V&H Slip ons, the only times it was in the shop was routine maintenance and I never added any fluids to it between changes. I live in MS so there was a lot of miles put on that bike in hot weather above 90 degrees, many 70-80 mph interstate runs and several week long rides in the Smokey's.
