Default Kuryakyn/MTX Road Thunder Plus on Road King S

I typically ride with my Sena Cavalry Bluetooth helmet, which is great for around town, but useless at anything above 40mph. Recently saw a John Maxwell video review of a MTX Sound bar (sold by Kury as the “Road Thunder Plus” 300w (which is a generous spec) sound bar). Decided to give it a shot. Figuring I got enough **** strapped to my bars, what’s one more thing. So I ordered one from Amazon, as if I wanted to return it, would be easy enough.

But I won’t be returning it. Is it a Road/Street Glide S setup with a 1000w aftermarket amp? No f’n way. But for a little 10” tube with one wire, it’s excellent. No real bass when moving, but plenty of clear volume even at Florida highway speeds (fast). Nice Bluetooth integration, I always just “shuffle rock” from my iPhone and this picks up as soon as it’s powered on. Press play, it plays. Press skip, it skips to the next song. Volume is great. All in all, well worth the not cheap 4 bills it cost.

When I wired up my power vision I ran extra heavy gauge wires up to the nacelle so it was as easy as crimping a few butt connectors and connecting the fused connectors to the battery. It would have taken 30 min more had I not already done that, to pull the harness back to the battery. E-Z...

I know, my GPS mount isn’t perfectly center. Oh well. For some reason it doesn’t bother my OCD.

Yeah its pretty damn good. I was cruising down the interstate at 80 today and it was plenty loud enough and not even at full volume. Nice!

Yep. No real bass to speak of, but the mids and highs are perfectly clear. And that’s not even at full volume. I did follow suggestions to set the iPhone EQ to “late night” or something that sort of levels the volume. Probably reduces fidelity a bit by compressing the music, but increases overall volume. And when riding with wind, exhaust and road noise, doesn’t really matter. I love it.

Love mine, sounds even better when you have ear plugs in. No wind noise just music.

I have the old one. I think it's 150W versus 300W, but works well.

@Mchad Damn you got me thinking about this set up. I usually use my Sena Bluetooth setup in my modular helmet, but now considering this for when I rock a 1/2 helmet or none at all. You said it’s one wire to hook up? Thanks.
